Trail Riding Centre And Residence
A large rural block on the river above Cedar Creek Falls. A series of separate pavilions were required including a homestead, barn, amenities, sheds etc with associated tanks, fences, lunging yard etc. The amenities and homestead linked by timber walkways and decks, with views through the Conway Ranges and Whitsunday hinterland. The first thing to decide was a limited palette of materials that could be used everywhere for everything, and to establish detailing that would be consistent and achievable by owner or builders with a chain-saw.
The centre incorporates many ecologically sound Green
features and design practices, including careful orientation and siting, large shading eaves, well designed cross and under-floor ventilation, along with solar power and hot water and on site sewer treatment.
Although the facility has closed it is always fun to return here. The amenities block has the charm of a much loved pet.
